Teacher Improvement Plan

A pre-selected teacher facing multiple challenges and the need for improved skills had a plan developed by me. After prioritizing the teacher's greatest needs, a timeline was created including professional development activities, sharing resources, observations, and administrative check-in days. Other activities included: forming an improvement team, teacher self-reflection and goals, collecting district forms for observations, and other data and monitoring student assessments. Essential skills and knowledge: meticulous recordkeeping, scheduling for observations and feedback, understanding and implementing education law. This project concluded with the Principal's recommendations for moving forward.

Project 1: Revised Staff Handbook

School Finance 101

The purpose of this project, Understanding School Finance, is to provide my school a live resource for parents and staff to stay well-informed about school finance policies and procedures that affect them. The staff handbook is the primary source to find this information. However, accessing information can be time-consuming when using the printed or online version of the handbook due to its size and lack of pagination. The school website is the parents’ primary source of school information for student finances. The “Students and Families” tab has a link for payments via the Online School Payments (OSP). This system allows parents to pay for some student activities; however, it does not contain letters and forms, and financial procedures for on-site payments such as cash or checks. The parents and community slides explain how all payments are made outside the OSP.

My project has four presentations. Understanding School Finance is the public presentation covering the financial information for the staff and parents. Linked inside of it are the other three presentations: School Finance 101 for Staff, Understanding School Finance for Parents and Community, and Understanding School Finance for Parents and Community in Spanish.

Teacher Attendance

The purpose of this project was to highlight the importance of Teacher attendance. It explains the many reasons why teachers miss workdays. I conducted interviews with principals, school leaders, and other staff about their opinions on teachers' absences and their impact on students and staff. The data collected included state and district teacher attendance policies, district teacher attendance records, and student achievement. Data was collected to cite a correlation between student achievement and teacher attendance. This project concluded with strategies principals can use to improve attendance.
